St. Richard Parish

Parish School Information

At St. Richard, you will find a strong sense of community. As primary educators of their children, our families share a common commitment to providing an excellent educational and spiritual foundation for our children.

Each child is nurtured to become the very best he or she can be, both academically and spiritually. We have high expectations for our students. We find that the more we expect, the more they excel. We promote self-discipline through positive reinforcement of school rules. The themes of respect and responsibility permeate our day; our goal is to reinforce the same values and moral lessons you instill in your child at home. As a result, St. Richard School is a safe, nurturing environment in which our students can study and grow.

Our Curriculum

We believe our children are best served by a curriculum that emphasizes the basic skills: phonics-based reading, mathematics, science and social studies. In addition to the basics, we offer computer-based education and instruction, vocal music, art and physical education. Our students also begin Spanish language in kindergarten. We enhance our curriculum with special events such as theater productions, live music performances, the Wild Bird Sanctuary and other such activities.

Our commitment to Catholic education is the foundation of St. Richard School. Catholic religion classes are taught every day at every grade level. The first through eighth grades attend mass once a week. Our students also experience what it means to live the Christian principles of love, charity and compassion through service projects. Other special programs, such as our mission project and “winter warm-up” drive, create an awareness of the diversity of our world and an understanding of others. Religion is a thread that winds itself throughout everything we do, from the songs chosen for our Christmas concert to our approach to discipline.

Just as you can't learn much about a family from the outside of their home, you can't fully appreciate St. Richard School without visiting and meeting our people. Please contact the school to meet or talk with our principal. Parent-volunteers are also available to answer your questions and fill you in on life at St. Richard School.
