Contemplative Outreach (St. Richard Prayer Group)
Psalm 46 "Be still and know that I am God". Contemplative Prayer is an echo of Psalm 46, the prayer of Silence, beyond words, beyond thoughts and beyond emotions. In the early church everyone practiced this kind of prayer. St. Gregory the Great called it "Resting in God". St. John of the Cross writes, "The Father spoke one word from all eternity and he spoke it in silence, and it is in silence that we hear it". Like the air we breathe, the divine Presence is all around us and within us. Its Presence is healing, strengthening, refreshing. It is self-giving, and boundless in compassion. In contemplative prayer we surrender to the attraction to be still, to be loved, and to just BE. Come and see. Join us in prayer. Call Enid McCormack 872-7493
